Grocery Shopping
I was asked about grocery shopping on Palau.
The two grocery stores downtown are very well stocked. (Prices were similar to those in Los Angeles, except for Sunscreen which was $12 for a cheap brand but it was 60 SPF.) They have all the American brand names as well as a large Asian section. Excellent baked goods. Plenty of fruit and vegetables. I didn't notice anything missing. The smaller stores in Malakal are okay. The pickings get slim on Arakabesan, the stores closest to the Palau Pacific Resort are bush stores with hardly anything in them. You can also buy food (homemade sandwiches and snacks) at gas stations. These items are all date stamped and obviously adhere to government health regulations. Roughly across from the Community College there is an area with several Bai where vendors from different states come and sell their edible goods on different days. (The photo is of one the Bai.)
